In another attempt to better quality ads, that drive more clicks and more money, Google has given a facelift to the Adsense link units. They will now look like Google search results. Google announced this by saying that this update was done to not only improve the look but also boost the performance.
Link units have been noted as an easy way of earning revenue from the smaller spaces on the site. This recent facelift has been applied to the landing pages as well. These are the changes that have been brought in-
- Number Of Link Units- This change has been done based on the feedback from publishers and their own research that link units with four terms almost always perform better than five. So, now as opposed to five ads appearing on horizontal Ad Units, now every Link Unit will have a standard of 4 ads. Where as the the number of topics in all link units are being reduced to 3 for vertical orientations. More space has ensured better display as, Google says, “ If you’re currently using link units, this change will happen automatically. We’re also slightly increasing spacing between and font size of each term.”
- The landing pages have a fresh look as well- They look a lot like Google search results page, as the color scheme, fonts, orientation and number of ads have been updated. There are more search suggestions on the left menu, just like in the case of regular search.
