AOL is testing a new version of its Google based search engine. The updated version, like Google has search, images, video, audio, news and shopping tabs. It provides relevant multimedia results, which it calls snapshot module, along with the text results.
Similar to the feature in Google personalized service, AOL has a search button that brings a list of recent searches. AOL explains the new features of Search Beta:
"AOL® is continually inventing new ways to take the challenge out of finding what you're looking for online. You can even review your recent search history. The incredible thing is that all of this is provided in just a fraction of a second."
With the Smartbox, "as you begin typing your search term, a list of suggested queries will automatically appear below the search input box. If you click on one of the suggestions (or user the arrow key on your keyboard), the search results page will display results for the suggested query that you selected. The queries are suggested based on the likelihood that they are relevant to the question you are trying to ask and fall into two groups: 1) Suggestions based on queries that you have submitted within the past 30 days. 2) Suggestions based on the most popular queries submitted by all AOL Search users over the past 30 days."
AOL's video search connects you to the video information you are looking for; including music videos, movie clips and online news clips. The image search offers the most comprehensive results for whatever image you are looking for on the Internet. You can search for online photos, pictures or other images.
