Google has announced the release of  AdWords API Version 5. The major changes introduced in the new version (V5) are : improved batch error handling, support for hourly reporting, removal of Keyword Service and new AccountInfo object. We have elaborated upon a few here:

Batch Error Handling- Google explains, "we’ve made some improvements to our error reporting in order to provide greater system clarity and minimize quota impact associated with list operation errors." Now, all errors detected during an operation will be returned. V4 returned just the first error. However, the behavior of list operations does not change. No transaction is still performed if there is atleast one error. Also, now the quota would be charged in proportion to the number of errors unlike the previous version that charged quota for the entire list of items.

Keyword Service-Under the new version KeywordService has been removed. All API applications now are to be switched to Criterion Service.

Hourly reports- Two new values of AggregationType have been added to generate hourly accounts on the new reports CampaignReportJob and AccountReportJob. For more information about hourly reporting click here.

New AccountInfo Object- The new getAccountInfo collects all account information into a single object.

V4 will be supported for 2 months as per Google's versioning policy. Upgrade to V5 before October 29, 2006. For more information and other changes read Google's Release Notes.
