Bing has given a facelift to the search page for Bing UK by opting for a slicker, cleaner design and a bigger image. Other key highlights, as revealed by the Bing UK team include- better page load time, more relevant search results and a change in the manner of search results display.
As Peter Maxmin, head of Bing UK said, “Most of us would like to spend less time searching for information online, as, let’s face it, there is more to life than search. We want to make your search experience quicker and easier so you can get on with the important stuff.”
The results are much cleaner now because the information on the left of the page has been removed and the header has been minimized- which allows for a faster scanning of the results. Readability is much better with more space between lines. The entire effort has been made to ensure that the search is well optimized for touch devices.
Of late, Bing has made a number of improvements in its products- from a recent up-gradation of the Image Search, to better search results with a social sidebar, and joining hands with Yelp and encyclopedia Britannica for better, faster and relevant search results.
Bing has been working round the clock to improve its product and reach and eventually get a better place in the search market. Bing has left Yahoo behind in 2011 to be the 2nd most used search engine. It has also struck a deal with Chinese search company Baidu to give some competition to Google.
