The Senior Product Manager at Microsoft Bing, Duane Forrester has shared four ways of not building links to your website in his Bing Webmaster Blog.

Let's have a look at what Duane has shared with the readers:

  1. Blind Requests: Don't mass or template email websites for links. Buying email lists and sending out mass email asking websites to link to you is just not a good idea.
  2. Link Injection: It is the tactic of hacking a website and then injecting link into the content. The link injection can be done in header, footer, or body content. Duane suggests webmasters to ensure that their CMS software is secure and updated.
  3. Blog/Forum Comments: Do not drop links in blog comments and forums, as this will not help in getting better rank in the search results.
  4. Guest Blogging: If your intention is to get links with guest blogging, Duane suggests you not to do it. He said, "if you’re going to guest blog, best to do it with the intention to build your brand, drive traffic and create awareness. Doing it to bolster your SEO efforts is a #FAIL these days".
