Bing XML Sitemap Plugin 1.0, whose preview was released in the month of February, has now been officially launched by Bing. The sitemap plugin will make it easy for webmasters to create XML sitemap files for the website. There are versions of the plugin for Internet Information Services (IIS) and Apache servers, which will definitely be beneficial for a number of businesses.

The sitemap can be submitted to Bing Webmaster Tools and other search engines. 

Bing has made a number of changes between the Beta and 1.0 release. These include:

  • Improved computation algorithm for <priority> value calculated on the basis of multi-machine merge memory improvements and several other improvements
  • The Sitemap will automatically inform the search engines after an update (At present, only Bing and Google will get the auto ping)
  • Customized data directory and installation at the installation time.
