In the month of September, the Campaign Planner tool was released by Bing Ads. This comprises vertical and product trend data plus competitive insights and critical keyword research. A fresh update to the tool was recently released.

Users who are not familiar with the tool should take time and go deeper into it. The tool is located under the Tools menu in Bing Ads.

The overview of what one will find here is as follows.

Industry Vertical and Product Trends

This refers to the area where the search volume trends can be seen based on pre-defined industry verticals as well as product categories. Via this update, users can now compare search volume trends over the years or week-over-week.

The search volumes can also be visualized by device and location within the last 7 day period and one can obtain benchmarks such as average CPC.

The chart below can be seen to provide an indication of the total number of times a keyword in a vertical or product group was searched during the last 7 periods of Sunday to Saturday.

Network drop enables users to include/exclude Search Partners Data as well.

The Keyword Tab also enables persons to view the top keywords at either sub-vertical or product level currently chosen with the basic performance metrics such as impressions, average CPC and so on apart from search volume breakouts by device and weekly change in total search volume.

Other keywords can be searched for using the search box.

The Competition Tab gives data on as many as 20 domains advertising in the vertical/product group selected. The Metrics studied comprise ads coverage/impression share and coverage share by top position, top of the page and sidebar alongside average position.

Seasonal Insights

Camouflaged under the Occasions & Gifts umbrella vertical, the sub-vertical Holidays and Seasonal include product breakouts such as Christmas, Holiday, Seasonal decorations, Jewish Holidays, new year’s and Thanksgiving.

For instance, the search volume so far was highest for Holiday and Seasonable Decorations on Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. Keyword “thanksgiving table settings” led searches in the product category rising from 19.6K on Tuesday before Thanksgiving to 148.2 on Wednesday, a day later.
