411 is a number that is most frequently dialed by Canadians, to locate residential and business listings for any and all Canadian provinces and territories. However, according to Search Engine Watch, Google has launched the Google version of 411 in the Canadian market and has termed it as GOOG 411.
Canadians can dial 1-800-GOOG-411 to connect to a computer that is equipped with a voice recognition software and this automated voice will ask the users for the city and province. Then a voice-menu will assist the users locating the information they are looking for.
Users can ask for directions to a business or location, phone numbers, or receive a voice spoken text message about the business or restaurant that they're researching.
Once again the, toll free number to access GOOG 411 is 1-800-GOOG4-11.

This is information people dont mind receiving. But for people with hearing problems like me, there’s another option. I use ASK411(275411) to get my listings. I just send them an SMS containing my city, province and the listing and i get the number that i need right away. The service is free until the end of january.
That is a great service!!
Although, I just gave it a try and there are only business listed right now.
Maybe sometime down the road they will add residential listings which is all that it needs.
Beats the heck out of paying $1 every time you dial 411.
thanks
