Yahoo’s! co-founder and former CEO Jerry Yang has stepped down from the company’s board. He announced his exit on Tuesday as he also gave up his posts on the boards of Yahoo Japan Corp. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

Bing is the second most popular search engine in the US (finally!), pushing Yahoo! to the third spot. The number one position is held by Google (no surprises there) as revealed by comScore’s latest figures. At present Bing has a 15.1% market share in the United States, a gradual increase from its humble beginnings in June 2009 with an 8.4 percent market share.
Yahoo has put out its formal press announcement announcing Scott Thompson as the new CEO. Yahoo has been looking for a new CEO since the ouster of Carol Bartz. This is what Yahoo has to say about appointing Thompson:

The 2012 election hub covers upcoming election in a never-done-before way. Similar to the election hub launched prior to 2008 election, 2012 election hub allows you to set filtering parameter in accordance to the news you want to see. Predefined parameters for major presidential election are running President Obama along with 7 Republican, who are hoping to topple him.
Connecting with people is much easier now, as Google has integrated its three services- Gmail-Contacts and Google+. So, now you can see and filter emails while on Google+ and can get your notifications while using Gmail and see your Contacts updated thru Google profiles.
The fact that there are many websites that cater to a global audience, has prompted Google to better its support for multilingual content with improvement in two basic cases. These scenario being- multiregional websites that have the same content in various regions, with only minor changes like prices; and those multiregional websites that have product/services pages in a different language for every country (French/German etc).
The American choice of celebrities underwent quite some change in the year 2011, as pop star Justin Beiber took the number one place among the most searched people. Bing has released a list of the top searches in 2011, and is a reflection of the collective interest of Americans in the year.
As compared to the 2010 edition, there have been some major changes.
Continuing on its spring cleaning path, Google has announced the end of seven more of its failed products including the failed social network Wave and the knowledge platform Knol. It seems that Google is walking steadily on its path to shut down its products that haven’t taken off. Some of the earlier products that have been axed include- Buzz, Jaiku, and even Google Labs.
In the last week of October, Google stealthily removed the “+” search operator from its set of search tools. By adding a “+” before a search term, made it mandatory that the specific words showed up in your search results. But, this tool was removed by Google as it considered the double quotes a better way of searching specifically.
