Bing has now added a great search functionality for Facebook users. Using Bing’s Facebook photo search, you can find any of your friends’ older photos that you have been unable to locate from their profile. If the photo has been shared by your friend with you, you can easily find it using Bing. The search engine has been working towards integrating search with social and this photo search functionality is in continuance with the features that were introduced with the Social Sidebar a couple of months back. With the sidebar, you could see a friend’s photos which were relevant to your search term with the results. But now, you can click on the friend’s photo appearing on the sidebar, and see all his albums from the Bing platform itself.

Bing has made some additions to the calculation metrics offered by Bing Webmaster Tools. The new metrics include percent changes and deltas which have been added to certain reports. As Bing announced the percent changes will highlight the variation from the time selected and the time period prior to that. As Bing said in its blog post, “For the metrics Clicks from search, Appeared in search, Pages crawled, and Crawl errors we will now show you the percent change for the selected date range (as selected in the date selector near the top of the dashboard) compared to the prior date range of the same length. So when you log into your Bing Webmaster Tools account and are looking at changes for say a 30-day period in your Dashboard (which is the default setting), the percentage in the Site Activity widget will reflect your relative increase or decrease compared to the prior 30-day period.”

This observation made by SEOmoz’s Dr. Peter Meyers only confirms what the search professionals have been observing for quite some time now. Google is testing to show only 7 SERPs instead of the traditional 10 listings. Another thing that has been noticed is that most of these results are from the same domain. In other words- the search results are shrinking and how! To this observation, Google has been quoted on the internet- “We’re continuing to work out the best ways to show multiple results from a single site when it’s clear users are interested in that site. Separately, we’re also experimenting with varying the number of results per page, as we do periodically.”
