Vivismo, of Velocity Search Platform fame announced that its search potal, Clusty.com will now be available on mobile phones. Now, anyone can use email, access much needed information, corporate intranets, etc from their mobile devices while on the go.

About how Clusty.com is different from other mobile search engines, Raul Valdes-Perez, CEO, Vivísimo says "Nobody wants to wade through thousands of links to access Web information via their mobile devices. We've combined the reliability of Clusty's search capabilities with navigation appropriate for mobile users and given them the ability to find exactly what they're looking for right at their fingertips."

Some of Clusty.com's special features include:

“Typing and retyping keywords is annoying when it comes to mobile phones as the keypad is small. Knowing this, Clusty.com has a new navigational interface featuring a huge array of topics and clusters which are similar to the user's search query.

Users are also aided by spelling suggestions for mistyped or misspelled queries. At the bottom of the search results page, Clusty Mobile suggests related queries to help users narrow their result set.

Clusty Mobile's unique navigational tools help users limit the number of words typed into the search box, instead giving them a method to easily scroll and click their way to information via topics or featured sources.

Featured content targeted at mobile search queries will be called-out above the search results from specific sources, such as weather listings, stock quotes, Wikipedia entries and Rotten Tomatoes reviews.

Clusty Mobile connects users to common and popular mobile Web content aggregators for news, maps, images and more.”

Of late, many search engines have gone mobile like Yahoo! oneSearch, Ask Mobile GPS etc. Yahoo! oneSearch and Ask Mobile GPS have proved popular so far.

Search blog informs: When you're on the move and have a limited amount of time, it's important to get all the information you need in a single search. oneSearch gets you all this information on your mobile phone because it understands the type of search you're doing and optimizes the results accordingly.

Yahoo! has officially announced the launch of Yahoo! Mobile Publisher Services. This is a host of services which permits publishers to increase the distribution and monetization of their content to mobile phones. According to a press release by Yahoo! Media Relations informs about the services offered:

Yahoo Mobile Ad Network: The Yahoo! Mobile Ad Network will allow mobile publishers to have syndicated advertising served on their mobile content and services. Publishers will be able to select the ad formats they want to have run, such as display, sponsored links, video or in-game placements.

Yahoo Mobile Content Engine: The Yahoo! Mobile Content Engine will enable publishers to bring their content to Yahoo!'s mobile audience. It will also help enable publishers who do not have a mobile site or only have a limited mobile offering to quickly distribute their content to consumers on their mobile phones.

Yahoo Mobile Media Directory: The Yahoo! Mobile Media Directory will allow publishers to make their mobile media content accessible directly through Yahoo! oneSearch. Publishers could submit a catalog of their content such as ringtones, games, video and applications.

Yahoo Mobile Site Submit: The Yahoo! Mobile Site Submit will allow publishers to provide information about their mobile site, such as a description and relevant tags, to ensure that their sites are accurately indexed and available to consumers through Yahoo! oneSearch. For example, a hotel could submit their mobile site, including description and tag, enabling weekend travelers to find their location and see if they still have rooms available through Yahoo! oneSearch.

Google has poured cold water on claims it is developing a mobile phone.
The search giant said it was more logical to form partnerships with existing handset makers instead.
Google's South-East Asia managing director of sales and operations, Richard Kimber, yesterday echoed statements made by Google's chief internet evangelist, Vinton Cerf, that building hardware would be a dramatic shift in the company's business model.

Just 20% of UK subscribers actually search for content on the mobile Internet, despite an industry perception that 89% do, according to research released today, from the Mobile Entertainment Forum and Ovum. The survey questioned MEF members including operators, content providers and technology enablers to gauge industry views, as well as 1,000 UK consumers.

Only 2% are searching on a daily basis. And mostly the searches stay limited at ringtones and music downloads. Mobile search industry is still in its early stages. There are many subscribers about 23% who simply are not aware how to make use of mobile search. And there are about 19% of the users who simply do not consider making use of their mobile phone for searches.

A new mobile search service has been launched by Yahoo! named oneSearch. The service is one of itself as it takes a different method for showing the search results on mobile devices and mobile phones.

According to Paul Yiu of Yahoo! Search:

The mobile device has very different requirements. With limited bandwidth, screen size and time, this service puts information all right in front of you without having to click on multiple links and then find your way back through a convoluted navigation process, as you might have to do on a more conventional mobile search service. Our goal with this release is to provide a rich set of relevant content for a given query from a number of different categories of results. The new display therefore demonstrates significant vertical integration on the mobile search result page to bring back more direct results. We're already doing this on the web search results pages. For example, you see a shortcut for news or images in addition to web results where it is likely you would be interested in seeing those items.

The search will give related links to mobile web sites and web. The users will also receive immediate answers for movies, business listings, celebrity gossip, news, events information and much more from just one search. If the user searches for any town, lets say 'London,' the search will show local news and traffic and weather information too.

With the three major search engines taking to mobiles so strongly, developments are happening sooner than expected. While Google Mobile has a comfortable lead, Yahoo! and MSN have to fight for their share.

Yahoo! has announced the launch of sponsored search results on Mobile Web Service. Yahoo!, for past two years has been running beta test in Japan. Steve Boom, Senior Vice President of Broadband and Mobile at Yahoo! said, "Enough users are doing queries that it’s beginning to turn into a business big enough for Yahoo! to find interesting. We’ve done the same thing in the UK on a single operator for the last nine or ten months and the same trend appears to be happening.”

Steve claims that their testing in Japan, the UK and the internal testing in the US have been succesful with no complaints.

As per the press release, "Beginning with this launch, Yahoo!'s web search results on the Yahoo!
