Local is featured with 'rich hyper-local content', that will provide people a truly personalized experience across desktop and mobile (currently available on iPhone and Android). This feature will allow people to discover and contribute to the best local news, deals, and events nearby, all in one place.

As we draw to the end of another spectacular year, the Yahoo! Year In Review is here again to take us all on a retrospective ride. Year In Review.
On November 16, Yahoo launched 'Yahoo Clues' to provide users a better insight and more reliable data about the popular search terms. The service however is still in its beta.
"With Yahoo Clues, you can discover and compare trending information for search terms of interest to you, or explore popular trending search terms on Yahoo," mentioned the official Yahoo! Blog.
In the latest post on adCenter Blog MS has asked all the Yahoo! advertisers to move their accounts to the adCenter platform, to avoid any loss in traffic.
Here are a few things to to be kept in mind:
- Since this is the pre-holiday season, make sure you don't miss on the traffic. MS anticipates 50-60% transfer of Yahoo! Search Traffic to adCenter by this weekend.

According to the latest Nielsen report MSN/Windows Live/Bing Search went past Yahoo! to become the No. 2 search engine in the U.S. It has garnered 13.9% share of search volume in August 2010, with an increase of 0.25% delta, from the previous month. Google like always, still holds the top place with a share of 65% of all U.S. searches. Placed at third place, Yahoo! managed only 13.1% share, with a decrease of 1.2 % share from last month.
It has been announced by the Yahoo Search blog that it is launching an advanced Search Assist feature which would help the user to get the closest geographical suggestions as he would fill in his enquiry in the search box.
This would really save time of the users to get the desired information as because, the Search Assist would locate the place an individual would be searching from. According to Yahoo, they are making “Search†more intuitive and convenient for the users.
Yahoo! had started the transfer of the back – end technology of its search to the Microsoft Platform, in the US and Canada, last week.
“Keep an eye out for the “Powered by Bing†indicator at the bottom of our search results page, which will indicate that you are viewing listings from Microsoft.†, said the official Yahoo! Blog.
Yahoo! has reported that some changes have been introduced to Yahoo! Search Assist that will provide the near real-time suggestions when the user type their query. Unlike before, the search results would now be more filtered and refined. The moment you type the query, it will show the list of fresh and nearest suggestions related to the query of course.

Yahoo has published its online style guide as a printed book and it will be available in the market from 6th July onwards. The book called as, The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing and Creating Content for the Digital World; will give you an insight to the writing style for the web. The press release says it’s the “first guide of its kind to focus on the specific issues associated with developing content for the online mediumâ€.
