Yahoo! these days is testing a feature (only to the selected users) called “Search Pad†that was formerly known as “Research Assistance.†This application collects sites and content as users conduct online research in an automatic manner. It was not long back when Google announced that it will stop its Notebook application (almost similar to Search Pad) for new users!

Recession is going on. A lot of companies are laying of their employees and some are freezing the salary hikes of their most deserving employees. Yahoo! is doing the same. The company has recently announced that it would freeze any wage hikes for the year. And not a few, but all the employees are included in the freeze.
Recently, Carol Bartz filled the slot of Yahoo's new CEO.
And now, just after a week or so, Satish Dharmaraj, founder of Zimbra, will be leaving the company in March, according to Kara Swisher.
It will be an interesting to see as to how Bartz, with all her software minded techniques, manages this exit…
The slot vacated by Jerry Yange is now filled by Carol Bartz, the new CEO of Yahoo!
The news is official as Yahoo! has confirmed Carol Bartz as the new CEO, along with making an announcement that President Sue Decker will soon resign. Yahoo Board Chairman Ray Bostock is extremely enthusiastic with Carol's acceptance of the CEO post.
A majority of search engines are of the view that the process of providing reciprocal links refers to 'spamming.' Yahoo, in their Search Content Quality Guidelines, has also given certain examples of content that they don’t want to include in their search engine. Here is one of them:
- Sites cross-linked excessively with other sites to inflate a site’s apparent popularity (link schemes)
Yahoo! has officially announced that it will reduce its data retention policy from 13 months to just 3. Now it will be interesting to see as to what kind of impact this step leaves on Google.
But as far as this move by Yahoo! is concerned, the company says that users will not witness any difference in their experience with Yahoo! products or services, or any other facility! Above all, advertising on Yahoo! will proceed in the same way just as it was going on in the past.

To talk more about these additions, one thing is for sure that Yahoo Buzz Publisher is now has new landing pages that are used to display submitted content as well as the activity that is related to the content for their “Buzzed up†contents.
These landing pages will be equipped with publisher-specific Yahoo! Updates modules and RSS/Add-to-My Yahoo! Buzz feeds.
The economic crisis seems to have relaxed a bit, all thanks to Obama's effort to minimize the negative effect, but it seems that Yahoo! is finding it difficult to overcome the economic catastrophe, and that is why there is no stoppage of layoffs from their end!
