Google has reduced the amount of rich snippets that get displayed in search results by 15%. The announcement of the same was made by Matt Cutts at Pubcon, where he hinted that the ability of low quality sites to have & use rich snippets may be taken away in the coming months.

The reduction is likely to affect the authorship by 15% and more authoritative authors will be shown afterwards.

Cyrus Shepard revealed that MozCast features tool saw a drip in authorships and webmasters too are recently complaining about their authorship being dropped out. MozCast displayed the drop in authorship through a screenshot:
