The “not selected” option in the Webmaster Tools has been officially removed. A comment from  Google’s John Mueller, a Webmaster Trends Analysts in Google Zurich confirms the same.

Confirmed: Google Removes “Not Selected” From Webmaster Tools!

He says, “Yep, this was removed on purpose since it was causing more confusion than actually helping webmasters with their sites.”

Contrary to his comment many people found the said data useful. As a matter of fact, John Mueller, himself quoted the importance of index status report and the importance of “not selected” number in a webmaster forum last year:

The number of "not selected" URLs is based on URLs that are either substantially similar or redirecting — if you have changed your site's URL structure and have redirected those URLs, then that would be a good explanation for that. That curve would also be fine and not a signal of a problem.

In a previous post we had informed about Index Status and the “Not selected” features in detail.
