Google has announced the addition of new features for mobile search results centered on shopping ads. Through this move, it aims to introduce more detailed product data in the search interface as well as the local inventory and 360 view of the product imagery.
These desktop shopping features are being brought by Google to mobile as it has seen "a 3.5X increase in shopping searches coming from smartphones year-on-year." Consequently, mobile has gained in importance and now it is all about a more detailed and richer product experience.
This includes an expanded product card with rich content as can be seen below:
Local inventory ads will be available on tablets and shoppers can find products close by using any device. This ensures advertisers will be able to engage in the promotion of their local products through the holiday season.
Products will be brought to life on Google Shopping as people can now see images from numerous sources and view products from different angles through a 360 degree view on mobile.
Advertisers can take advantage of Auction insights segmented by device to see product visibility for smartphone users and find out how they compare to the competition.
