Whether you are a novice or an expert webmaster, you always have something new to learn from Google's resources. With an aim to guide beginners in the basics of creating a website, Google launched the Webmasters Academy two years back and has now expanded it to introduce a series of new and targeted content. The search engine giant announced in a blog post that it has updated the educational resource program to expand and improve information on some important modules.
Apart from adding new content, Google has also modified three important topics to provide expanded and improved information. The tailored modules include:
- Module 1: Setting up a new website- This module instructs webmasters on creating a new website that is useful to the audience.
- Module 2: How Does Google Search Work- Here you can learn how Google accesses and understands your website. A video by Google's Head of Search Spam, Matt Cutts is embedded to give a give a “behind the scene” knowledge of how your website is seen and understood by Google.
- Module 3: Setting up your Webmaster Tools account- Learn how to set up your Webmaster Tools account by interacting with Google about your website. Find out on which search terms your site shows up, how it is ranked on those keywords and how many users are clicking on your listing.
The program is divided into small but detailed lessons and includes quizzes, videos from Webmaster Central YouTube channel, resources and examples to provide a detailed insight to the audience. At the time of start up the program was available only in English but now covers around 20 different languages.
Below each chapter there are links to more in-depth articles allowing webmasters to understand each topic in details. Users can either peruse the entire curriculum or choose from any of the topics they are interested in.
