Yesterday, Yahoo! Inc. named Elisa Steele as the new CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) of the company. She will be responsible for Yahoo!'s brand, its global marketing strategy and its marketing functions including brand marketing, audience marketing, corporate communications, insights, policy and privacy, community affairs, and related central teams.
Steele has a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master's degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University. She was earlier the senior vice president of the corporate marketing department at NetApp. She has also worked with companies like Sun, iPlanet eCommerce Solutions, JavaSoft, and AT&T.
In response to the news Steele said "I'm excited to join the team and help unleash the incredible power of the Yahoo! brand, I look forward to working closely with Carol and the entire organization to help renew the company's focus on its customers and to reassert the brand's relevance around the world."
According to Carol Bartz (CEO), the decision to appoint Steele as the CMO was taken to make Yahoo! brand more effective in the global market.
