Facebook has rolled out an update to streamline the ad units that were announced in June. The update will be focusing more on making the images engaging and prominent.

Post-update, you will see bigger images and consistent ad specifications across ad placement. There will be no need to upload images of multiple sizes for different placement types. The update will also result in increase of the ad canvas.

Joe McCormack, CEO of Adquant (Facebook's first Preferred Marketing Developers) said, "The new ad formats are very goal oriented from promoting offers to driving mobile app installs. Facebook has made it much easier for advertisers to find the perfect format to meet their needs. We expect these changes to result in increased advertising budgets on Facebook and better results for advertisers".

The image size and canvas size both will be bigger across the board. Here's an image of how Page like ads will look on desktop and mobile.
