Facebook has recently updated its guidelines, which will impact the ratings of the FB Pages with no physical address. There's a change in Facebook help pages, wherein the advice on how to show ratings is now added. It says:

"To let people add star ratings and reviews to your Page, you’ll need to choose Local Business for your Page’s category and add your business address to the Page. You can choose your Page’s category when you create a Page, or if you’ve already created a Page, you can change your Page’s category".

Facebook page owners were definitely abusing the Ratings feature and it comes to us as no surprise if the social network has cracked down on it with the latest change.

The update could result in an increase in the number of businesses trying to attach physical addresses to the pages, without actually having their business at the location. The similar trick was used by people to appear on Google Maps listings, before Google took strict measures against it.

It is still not confirmed if the businesses that have a physical address but never added it to their FB page will get the ratings back on updating the details.
