ComScore Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Emeritus Gian Fulgoni talks about Facebook's phenomenal growth
ComScore's Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Emeritus Gian Fulgoni has given an emphatic confirmation that Facebook has delivered about a billion more desktop video views as compared to YouTube in the month of August this year. Fulgoni discussed this news in an interview with Beet.tv.
Fulgoni indicated that as far as the numbers go, Facebook's growth is “pretty amazing”. Fulgoni also commented that the auto-play advantage offered by Facebook has a benefit as compared to YouTube’s engagement because the latter is user initiated. He said that, “While there’s reach advantage for auto-play, there’s an issue as to whether you’re getting good engagement. You’re getting good engagement from user-initiated (YouTube videos) by definition.”

As per the Video Metrix report released by comScore, Facebook is still behind Google websites as far as video views across total devices are concerned.
Facebook had said last month that it generated billion plus video view on a daily basis. The sharp rise in video view numbers of Facebook is a direct impact of the adjustments made by the social media giant's site to its news feed algorithm in the month of May.Through the use of this algorithm, users were able to access more relevant video content and therefore more certain to view the videos.
