The local social networking site, Foursquare has announced a few changes that include a new logo, a new look and most significantly a new feature, personalized local search which will be the core focus of their business. Foursquare contends that local search doesn’t “get” its users., thus all users get the same result when conducting a local search in a particular area. The new version of Foursquare will match up users with a local embellishment that suits their requirements.

Mentioned below are the details of the changes in the social networking site

  • Now, all check-ins will be moved to the new app, Swarm. There is no need to worry about the past check ins, friends or photos, they will all be automatically transferred to Swarm.
    Over three quarter users have already installed the new app, for users still using the old version will need to download Swarm to able to check in.
  • With the new app, Foursquare has also changed its logo from its check-in check mark to something that significantly represents the new Foursquare. The new design is a mix of map pin and superhero emblem. The new logo reflects the vision of giving users superpowers for exploring the city.

  • Now no two people will experience the app the same way. All that the users need to do is add their tastes, follow experts or just walk around for a few days.
