Google+ is marking its presence in every Google product, with AdWords being the latest one. From today, AdWords advertisers will be able to highlight their Google+ follower counts in their enhanced campaigns. Google has already told that ads with follower counts have 5-10% higher click-through rate, when compared to regular ads.
Here's an example from Home Depot, when we searched for "dining room chairs".
Marketers don't have to set up the enhanced campaigns social annotations at the campaign level, as they can show up automatically.
The Eligibility Criteria
If a business wants to show these annotations, it should have a Google+ page with verified URL. The Google+ page should have recent, high-quality posts, and a good number of followers (at least 100 followers) to qualify for social extensions. The social annotations automatically appear in enhanced campaigns without paying an additional cost.
Social extensions have been present for more than year and half. Google launched "social extensions" for AdWords last year, but they were required to be set up at the campaign level, while the new annotations to enhanced campaigns show up automatically.
Google has also made general improvements to enhanced campaigns. Advertisers targeting application users can set in-app bids on the basis of user context such as location, device, and time of the day. At ad group level, advertisers can set bids according to demographics, topics, interests, and remarketing.
Google has also announced mandatory switch to enhanced campaigns for all AdWords marketers, which will begin on 22 July, 2013.Google AdWords Social Annotations Let Advertisers Highlight Their Google+ Follower Count!,
