Google announces the AdWords Pharmacy Policy Updates for the US and Canada.

Here's the information on what exactly the changes are :

  1. Only those online pharmacies in US and Canada will be allowed to post their ads on AdWords, who will be accredited by the National Association Boards of Pharmacy VIPPS program and the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA.) respectively.
  2. The online pharmacies in US and Canada can target their ads to only the users of their respective ountry in which they are accredited.

Google has come up with these updates to prevent the fraud practices of selling online medicines that are not genuine. These changes will not affect the AdWords' online pharmacy policy for other countries.

New restrictions will come into effect by the end of Feburary 2010. Also, the unaccredited online pharmacies will not see their ads displayed after that.
