Google announced it is introducing a new type of remarketing list that can automatically create and manage lists in Analytics. Called Analytics Smart Lists, the new option allows you to ask Google to manage your list for you when creating a new remarketing list.
Smart Lists are built using the anonymized conversion data from the Analytics powered websites which have opted to share data with Google. These websites use signals like visit duration, page depth, location, device, referrer and browser to determine which users have a higher probability to convert during a later visit to the site. Google makes a daily update to the model of users who are most likely to convert and based on this, users are added or removed from a List.
According to Google, the Smart Lists will be automatically updated for those who use e-commerce transaction tracking and have enough traffic and conversions. For marketers with 500 monthly e-commerce transactions and 10,000 daily page views, Smart List is generated based on the unique factors that cause users to convert and a list based on the site data will appear as “My Smart List” in the list builder. On the other hand, if your website generates less than 500 monthly e-commerce transactions and 10,000 page views every day, the Smart List is generated based on conversion data from similar businesses that have opted to share their anonymized conversion data with Google Analytics.
Google recommends, to get the best results you must ensure your Google Analytics transactions are imported into AdWords. You can then combine your Smart List with Conversion Optimizer using Target CPA or ROAS in AdWords.
Google said in the post that it is working on ways to surface these conversion data signals elsewhere in your reports, so that you can determine which factors help in predicting the users who are most likely to convert.Google Analytics Introduces Smart Lists for Automated Remarketing List Management!,
