Google Announces Four New Products At Its Press Day

As discovered by the Google Operating System, the second annual Google Press Day is today, May 10, starting at 9 AM for breakfast and then 9:30 to 1 PM for Q and A. Here is more from the Google Press Day:

"The second annual Google Press Day, is an informal – and we hope informative – session designed especially for journalists and industry analysts.Speakers include Eric Schmidt plus a number of executives from our technology, sales, corporate and international teams."

Google announced new technologies today in order to augment and improve the search experience. Therefore, in their press release Google made an announcement of their four products-Google Trends, Google Co-op, Google Destop, and Google Notebook. The step has been taken to improve the state by providing users more relevant information. The launch of all these products will be advantageous to the users. Not only this the company has launched Google Trends, a tool which would let the users to do a throrough study on the billions of searches conducted on Google to have an insight into broad search patterns.

"Google Co-op and the other new services announced today combine the power of Google's technology with the context, knowledge, and unique expertise of individuals," said Jonathan Rosenberg, senior vice president, Product Management, Google Inc.  "As a result, users can find the information they are looking for – no matter how specializedor specific – faster than ever."

Google Trends:

Google Trends is built on a idea based upon Google Zeitgeist, which would permit you to sort out Google search queries from all over the world to have a general idea which will range from the user preferences on ice-cream flavors to the know hows of the politicians in their respective cities or countries.

Google Co-op Beta

As stated by the personels at Google, the Google Co-op beta will act as a community for the users where they can contribute their skills and work towards enhancing Google search for all. Be it organizations, businesses, or individuals, everyone can  create and label specialized links and web pages for others to subscribe. is a community where users can contribute their knowledge and expertise to improve Google search for everyone. These contributions would act as meta information that would help Google's search algorithms relate users to the most relevant information for a particular query. For example, a doctor can label web pages related to arthritis, and users who subscribe to that doctor's information will receive options at the top of the results for more specific information such as "treatment," "symptoms," or "for health professionals" when they enter a relevant query.

Google Desktop 4 Beta

The announcement of yet another product launch was made by Google today. Google Desktop 4 beta, is the new product which will be available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Brazilian Portuguese. Through this facility users can enhance their search experience by personalized information like games, media players, weather and news. In their statement they also say that Google Desktop automatically refer new gadgets and can also make a personalized homepage for the users which would be based on the subjects which the users frequently search for. It will be advantageous for the developers because with the help of this facility, they can share their independent gadgets with others as well. 

Other Features of Google Desktop 4 will let the users to:

 Access their Google Gadget content and settings from other computers and protect it from computer crashes by saving it online.
Add favorite gadgets from their personalized Google homepage right onto their desktops.
Easily access other Google services from their desktop.  For example, users can view upcoming birthdays with the orkut.com gadget, see what's popular on Google Video, or access their Google Calendar
directly on the desktop.
 Manually re-index their computers or remove deleted files from search results.

Google Notebook from Google Labs

The third and the most easy to use facility which is announced by Google is the Google Notebook. According to the sources at Google, Google Notebook will be useful for the userswho want to save and organize their thoughts while performing research online. It serves as a personal browser tool which allows the users to clip text, images, and links from other pages. Moreover, it will save them to an online "notebook" which can be accessed from any computer, and also share it with others.

As said by the Google personels, Google Notebook is an interactive scratch pad for every website a user visits which will offer one online location to gather web findings while staying in the same browser window.  For example, if a user were planning a vacation, she could clip the most relevant materials on the pages she visits and add personal notes to help organize all of her research.

Users can make their Google Notebook public and share the notes they've taken with others. As a result, the time and effort put into their research can be harnessed by the online community as a whole.
