In contrast to the bold statement that Webmasters shouldn't solely focus on the PageRank, Google has come up with the Google Toolbar PageRank update last night. It was only fifteen days ago that Google dropped the PageRank values from the Webmaster Tools and the search community raised a brow on it.
Google gave the last PageRank update in June 2009. We all know that a Toolbar PageRank is only a guide for searchers and webmasters. It is a snapshot of the internal PageRank that is taken every months, which means it is far different from the current report. The PageRank has nothing to do with the change in ranking and the shown in toolbar don't have any impact on Google ranking. Still the latest PageRank update from Google is a mixed message to SEOs and Webmasters.

Yes, I saw news with red headlines in different SEO sites and magazines that Google no longer considers page rank an important factor.
I think it is a waste of time discussing if Google considers page rank or not. Instead invest the time in link building and other SEO practices.
I just found your blog. Great articles and well written. Thanks for all the info. Namaste!
After two months of blogging, my site is finally a PR1 pagerank. I still don't have an idea how I got to this point.
thanks for nice info,
actually I don't really focusing on pagerank, in my opinion the pagerank will grow automatically based on the quality of our contents. so we better focusing to produce the high quality contents and build hight quality links.
just my though:)
I agree that it sends mixed signals, not only to webmasters but to people new to online marketing that are already trying to wade through the information, truths and myths. I don't think people should spend time focusing on page rank. Build, build, build and you'll get exactly what you need =)
