The latest search engine market research report has been released by Hitwise. The report, covering the period of March 2007, states that Google’s share of the market has increased to 64.13%.

Yahoo!’s market share has dropped to 21.26% from 22.30% last year
MSN (Live Search) has dipped from 13.09% last year to a poor 9.15%
ASK has gone down from 3.99% to 3.48% this year
48 other search engines accounted for the rest 5% searches

Google’s corresponding figures for February 2007 and March 2006 are 63.90% and 58.33% respectively. While Google has posted a steady increase in market share, it has come as a surprise to many.

Yahoo!, Live and ASK have made significant changes in algorithm and launched new features too. Yahoo! Panama was much anticipated to close the gap between Google and Yahoo! ASK launched highly useful features as the image search.
