Google has announced the rollout of Callouts, a new extension in AdWords. It allows advertisers to display special offers as well as benefits of their sites, products and services along with an additional line of text in their ads.

Strengthening your Message

With the help of callouts, advertisers can show valuable information to their potential customers even before they click on the ad. Advertisers can also use them to highlight what makes their business different from their competitors.

Advertisers can easily use callouts along with other ad formats. For example, if an advertiser is already using sitelinks for “Women Clothing” and “Back to School,” they can simply create a callout for“20% off on the entire site”. This will make people click through and further make a purchase. If an advertiser is using call extensions they can highlight “24 hours customer support”to let the customers know that they can call their business for help at any point of time.

Google has also said that if users plan to make callouts, they need to make sure that they keep it relevant and focused.

Creating your First Callout

Advertisers can schedule, manage and report on their callouts from the Ad extensions tab. They can also provide more information about their products and services at the campaign or account level along with a more detailed information at the ad group level as callouts can be added at the account level, campaign level or even at the ad group level.

Advertisers can add callouts for “Special offers” or “Free shipping” to campaigns that have more general keywords. To support more specific keywords, they can even add callouts for product details at the ad group level.

Advertisers need to keep in mind that callouts are limited to 25 characters each and they can shop for up to four callouts with their ad. Callouts can also co-trigger with all other ad formats in the auction.
