Google introduced yesterday Page Speed in its web community. This tools will help improve and enhance the performance of webpages. Page Speed is actually a Firefox Add-on integrated with Firebug.

The moment you run Page Speed, you'll get instant suggestions on how to change your webpages to improve their speed. These suggestions are primarily based on set of accepted best practices that all websites follow.

For instance, Page Speed can automatically optimize images and compress them to be used on your website. It also has the ability to identify issues related to JavaScript and CSS loaded by your webpage, which was not actually used to display the page. This step will allow users to spend less time waiting for the page to be downloaded and displayed.

Google has also created a detailed documentation that describe the rationale behind these rules.
