With general election just around the corner, Google has launched the Google India Elections Centre. At present, it is available in two major languages i.e. English and Hindi.

Here are some of the features of this centre:

  • Confirmation of voter registration status.
  • Locating polling centres.
  • View their constituency on a map.
  • Show relevant election-related news, blogs, videos, and quotations.
  • Range of indicators to evaluate the development status in their constituency.
  • Know more about their candidates and Member of Parliament.

The tool is believed to make an excellent resource for analysis, governance and democracy in India even after the election.

This project has been developed in cooperation with the Association for Democratic Reforms, HT Media Limited, Indicus Analytics, the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, the Liberty Institute, and PRS Legislative Services.

Google believes that the election centre will improve the voting patterns as well as a culture that seeks access to information.
