Google has released a new Google Maps application for Android devices with more search functionality, Zagat reviews, discount offers for specific destinations, and update navigation features. The app will soon be available for iPhone and iPad versions.
Moreover, Google has also designed an app for tablet specific devices including iPad and Android tabs. Using the application on tablet will be more fluidic, smooth, and fun.
The new application will let users find a location without typing by tapping the search box as eat, drink, and shop options will be displayed on the screen. Google says that the new search functionality is an easy way of visually browsing and discovering new places.
Two navigation features have been included in the application. One will report road products and provide incident details while second will alert users about a better route to take.
A 5 star rating system for bars, restaurants, and cafes with Zagat badge or excellence has also been introduced in the app. The curated list will be integrated in search results.
Users will also see the discounts being offered by national retail locations highlighted on the map.
The new Google Maps application will be deprived of Latitudes feature. Google has already announced that it will be retiring the Latitudes and check-ins feature on August 9. Users will be pushed towards using the check-in and location sharing features on Google+. Presently, location sharing is currently available on Google+ for Android but it will be coming to iOS.
Offline maps feature for Android and My Maps is also not included in the new Google Maps application. However, users can enter "OK Maps" in the search box while viewing a location and save it for future use. Google has said that My Maps functionality will be added to the future versions of the application.
Global roll-out of Google Maps will start from today in Google Play and it will eventually be available through App Store.Google Maps Apps Now Giving More Search Functionality and Navigation Features!,
