Google search results are now showing “Latest Posts” from Google+ pages/profiles where one usually saw the PPC ads. The top half of the search page has Google+ pages and profiles alongside its regular results.

As per Google, this change is an experiment to merge search with social. Google has been quoted all over the web as: “We’re continuing to experiment with the ways we can help you find and interact with the people you’re looking for or who may be related to the topic you’re searching for.”

If you see the new results, you will see that the Google+ results show up on the right-hand side of the page instead of being a part of search results. Whether you are signed in or not, you will see such results.

So, if you were searching for someone’s Google+ profile, it would show on the right of the page, instead of the top of the results. For Google+ pages, it is an excellent setting to get more visibility in “above the fold” search results.

This new search results format is a good thing for internet marketers as they can now provide and achieve better visibility for their clients. Also, they can control the content displayed in a better manner. With Google search highlighting Google+ results, it is time to buckle up with your Google+ strategy.
