Last month, Google had released Google AdWords Editor 5.1 and now within a month, Google has announced the release of Google AdWords Editor 6.0. The new AdWords Editor 6.0 has been released for both Windows and Mac. The intent is to enable the advertisers to edit their AdWords campaigns faster and more effectively.

Some of the prominent features of the AdWords Editor 6.0 are:

Append text: Add text before or after existing text in a specific column, for all selected rows. Select the rows you want to edit, then click the 'Append text' link at the bottom of the edit pane. For example, add the word 'New' at the beginning of the headlines in your selected text ads.

Drag and drop: Now you can drag and drop ad groups within the tree view. To move an ad group, select it in the tree view and drag it to another campaign. To copy an ad group, select it and drag it while holding the Control key.

Select Duplicate Keywords: After running Find Duplicate Keywords, you can now quickly select all the duplicatesthat meet certain criteria. Click 'Select duplicates by' in the tab tool bar and choose one of the menu options. For example, select all the duplicates with the lowest CTR, then edit or delete them as needed.

Diagnostic logs: Diagnostic logging is a troubleshooting mode. When enabled, it creates reports that can help our engineers better understand technical issues you may encounter. Go to the Tools menu > Settings.

Backup archives: AdWords Editor automatically creates a backup, including un-posted changes and comments, when you re-download an account with 'Get Full Account.' You will also be prompted to back up accounts before upgrading from version 6.0 to a subsequent release.

As with every AdWords Editor release, Google recommends advertisers to export and archive data of their account in case there are any problems. In conjunction with the new AdWords Editor release, Google is holding a webinar next week on June 10th from 10:30 until 11:30 PDT, so as to spread awareness about the new features. If you are interested, you can always sign-up for the webinar.

At the Webmaster World, there are some posts, that I would like ti share with our readers:

“Anyone knows if the historical data of an drag and dropped ad group will remain intact? Ifso then I can drag some ad groups to one of my campaigns that is allowed to use the conversion optimizer.”

“The release was also mentioned on the Inside AdWords blog today, and the post included this important reminder – worth repeating here: 'Before you upgrade, be sure to export an archive of your account in order to preserve comments and unposted changes. After you've installed version 6.0, download your account, then import the archive file'. The blog post itself included three links to how-to info, in the above text – and also gives some details about a (free) webinar for those who'd like to learn more about using the new features.

“I have an Error#42 occurs onces I successfully download and run the upgrades version of tool but as I created some new ad groups and trying to post my changes that Error occurred I a tried to guide my self with an AdWords specialist online chat but he recon that there engineers are still working on that issue and most of the advertisers are complaining the same Error code.”

“I archived each account separately, installed the new editor, downloaded the first account, and then tried to import the archived account and got the error message:

"Adwords Editor could not understand the contents of the file. This may indicate a problem with AdWords Editor, or with a third party tool that generated the file. Please contact technical support.' So, it looks like once again, I've lost all my comments, or at least, I can't port them into AE 6.0”
