Google Webmaster Tools has received the first update of the year 2014. Cyrus Shepard (via Thomas Høgenhaven) has posted news about an exciting update that will let you see the top keywords, which fetched impressions and clicks to the top pages.
Upon logging in and navigating to "Search Queries", a timeline annotation saying "An improvement to our top search queries data was applied retroactively on 12/31/13" will appear.
Here's the screenshot of the expanded page report showing the keywords that attracted traffic to the page.
Click on the "Top Pages" and a vast amount of new & improved keyword data for URLs will appear.
The update was indeed a massive and much needed improvement as it will also give you back some of the data that Google took away with SSL search.
Benefits of Data Accuracy
The increased accuracy of webmaster tools will enable it to predict the scenarios and focus more on the keywords as well as pages with potential to generate more revenue & show better signs of growth.
While making an official announcement of the update, Google said:
“The search queries feature gives insights into the searches that have at least one page from your website shown in the search results. It collects these “impressions” together with the times when users visited your site – the “clicks” – and displays these for the last 90 days.”
As told by John Mueller, the update will be completely rolled out in the next few days.Google Releases an Improved Top Search Queries Data: The First Webmaster Tools Update in 2014!,
