Yesterday, Google released, yet another addition to its web page speed service clan, Page Speed Service. An online line service which will automatically load your web pages faster. The clan till date, sans Page Speed Service, consisted of, Page Speed browser extension, Page Speed Online API and mod_pagespeed, an Apache module.
Using this service is simple, all you have to do is, Sign up and let Google know of your site's DNS entry.
Once you've done so, Page Speed Service works its magic, so that you no longer have to be concerned about concatenating CSS, compressing the images on your website, caching, gzipping your data or worry about adhering to, other web performance best practices. As it pulls out content from all your servers, using the optimum web performance practices, it rewrites your pages for you and finally delivers them to the end users through Google's servers globally. And voila! Your users will now be able to access your website in faster load time.
So, are you wondering, by fast, just how fast are Google talking about? Ram Ramani, Engineering Manager at Google, reveals “In our testing we have seen speed improvements of 25% to 60% on several sites. But we know you care most about the numbers for your site”
And the numbers for just how much this new service can influence your site are:

So, are you getting excited about this new faster service? Well, there is every reason why you should be. However, in case you have not already noticed in the 'Request access to Page Speed Service' image above, the free service at the moment is only offered to a chosen few webmasters, for all you 'not so special' webmasters you will have to pay for the service. Though Mr. Ramani assures “Pricing will be competitive and details will be made available later.” Until then, keep anticipating this faster new Google service!
