Google, adding to its ever-growing portfolio of mobile search ads, has now introduced a new hyper-local ads feature for mobiles. The new feature indicates users on the move, about the exact distance between them and an advertiser’s business location, on their mobiles.
The blue push-pins on the page denote the ad units and feature click-to-call besides an expandable map. On the location accuracy front, the new hyper-local units go down to “the block level.” As the marker on the map indicates the distance between the user and the advertiser's business location, it becomes easier for the user to reach to the advertiser's business location. This means that using this feature advertiser's can now attract more traffic to their store and generate better revenue, as a result.

The hyper-local distance information automatically gets enabled for location extensions and does not involve any additional configurations. This allows the advertiser's to perform hyper-local advertising with their existing location extensions, with relative ease. This ad format is only available on the Google search network and in those countries that support location extensions ad formats. In this case, the advertisers are billed only when users click to visit the website or on the contact number displayed in the ad.

In order to take advantage of this new feature advertisers are required to possess location extensions set up. On the other hand, the users need to share their location with Google to avail this service.

The feature has great potential to lead people to the point of purchase. It gives an real-time dimension to the ads that did not exist before prominently.
