Google announced yesterday in a blog post that it has added email notifications to its Google Trends services. You can now subscribe to any search topic, hot searches or any U.S. monthly top chart and Google will deliver the updates right to your inbox.
Whenever there is a growth in the search volume around a particular topic, you will immediately receive an email notification. You can also subscribe to email alerts on trending topics based on your location. For example, if you put up at UK and you want to stay updated about the “big things” happening there, you can set up an email notification to apprise you about the hot searches in the U.K and you will get emails about all major local trends, right from the London Marathon to Britain's Got Talent. You can choose from any topic or country to subscribe to them.
To set up an email notification for Trends, log in to Google Trends, visit the subscription section and click on “Add Subscription”. In the Add Subscription box, you can set the topics and country of your choice and also the frequency at which you want the notifications. You can choose from “once a day”, “once a week” or “once a month”. Google mentions that the “how often” is a rough estimate and varies between topics and overtime. Finish it off by clicking on the Subscribe button.
The working of the new feature is very similar to that of Google Alerts. Once you log in to Google Trends, you will find the Subscribe button all over the place. If you find yourself clicking on too many subscribe buttons, there is an option to “unsubscribe” in every email.Google Trends Gets Email Alerts, Trending Topics and Hot Searches Delivered Right to Your Inbox!,
