Google has given a facelift to its Hot Searches List. The refreshed list is more visual, provides greater information about the queries and combines related rising search terms together.

The biggest change is that previously Hot Searches only provided 20 daily results, but the new page has a filter which allows only the hottest news stories of the day to be displayed in the results. As Google says, “The new page introduces a filtering system that helps us make sure that the list includes only the truly hottest news stories of the day. Also, when a few of the fastest rising search terms refer to the same news story, such as [tony awards 2012] and [audra mcdonald], they’re now aggregated into one entry, which lists all the “Related searches” that go along with the main story. Lastly, the new list also provides an indication of how many searches have been conducted for each topic in the 24 hour period when it was trending.”

Hot Searches

As is well known, Hot Searches in Google Trends allow people to too the most popular search terms in the U.S. and gather public’s choice. The updated list has images and links to related news articles about popular searches and in a glance tells the users the crux of the topic and why they are so much in discussion presently. Then users can click on the related information links and find out more about the hot searches.
