According to the Nielsen's Top Digital Brands of the Year report, Google was the most popular web brand of 2013. The website received 165 million unique visitors on an average every month.

The stats are on the basis of the U.S. desktop web traffic numbers received between January till October this year. However, there's a drop of 6 percent in the average monthly audience for Google from 2012.

Facebook is the second most popular website with 134 million monthly visitors. The social networking site too has seen a drop of 16 percent in the traffic since last year. Yahoo! ranked third with 130 million average visitors every month.

Here's the Nielsen's revelation of top 10 most visited websites that saw a drop in the traffic this 2013.

Top Video Sites of 2013

YouTube has still not loosened its control on videos and was the most popular video site. It received almost 3.5 times more traffic than the number 2 website VEVO.

The trend report is not surprising but it reflects that consumers are actively moving from desktop to mobile.
