Webmasters are happily breathing a huge sigh of relief on learning Google has altered and updated their Webmaster Guidelines page.
Some of the additions include links to:
- hidden text or hidden links
- cloaking or sneaky redirects
- automated queries to Google
- load pages with irrelevant keywords
- multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content
- avoid creating pages that installs viruses, trojans, or other badware
- How to avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content
- How to Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first
Though the change is not jarring, it is a little more detailed with not just what is bad for the site but how to improve it. Here's a before and after to better understand the scenario.
