Webmaster Tools has provided 100,000 backlinks when users clicked on "Download more sample links" button. Until now, users selected the links by lexicographical order, which means that no complete picture of the site's backlinks was provided.

However, based on the feedback from Webmaster community, an improvisation will be made towards selecting the backlinks that give websites a better & fuller picture of the backlink profile. One of the most important improvements is that most of the links will be sampled uniformly from full spectrum of backlinks instead of alphabetically. Webmasters will also get example links from varied top-level domains and different domain names as well. The new links will be sorted alphabetically.

Very soon, webmasters will notice a broader and diverse cross-section of links on downloading the data. If you are a site owner keen to know who is recommending their content will get better overview of these links. Those trying to clean up bad link practices will find it easy to figure out where they should spend their time & efforts.
