Google has announced that Real Time Analytics now supports profiles. Webmasters will now be able to see profile specific data in real time and that too in accordance with the filters set for that profile. Real Time Analytics was announced last year and after receiving a positive response for the same, Google decided to show webmasters real time traffic per profile. Also, any user (non-admin) who has access to the profile can see the associated real time reports. One can use the standard profile-chooser available to move between profiles. Additionally, the profile support also supports App profiles and allows users to keep an eye on real time mobile SDK traffic as well.
Google advised, “When viewing your real time reports keep in mind these changes. If the numbers are lower than you are used to, check your filters to see what traffic is being excluded. And if you use real time for debugging, be sure to use an unfiltered report for that purpose.”
Websites get a lot of traffic from social networking sites as well and for the same Google has added “social” traffic source medium and is in the Social Reports grouping. To see and divide your traffic from social networks you have to head to the “Social Referrals” link:
From here you can see the report of all the traffic segmented by its source- ‘social’.
You can also use Real Time Analytics to see the pages your visitors are viewing presently and the pages which are seen the most. This data is available at the ‘page views’ tab.
What do you think of these updates? Will this come in useful for your site? Do share your views.
