Without much noise Google has discontinued the free Google SOAP API Search key as on 5th December 2006. However, Google has launched Google AJAX Search API to replace the previous option.
Google Soap API Search Key was very popular and it was used by SEO and developers for a very long time. The Google AJAX Search API allows the users to put an AJAX search box onto their site. The features are not the same as Google SOAP API Search key. The SEO's and developers using the API Search Key for a long time will find it difficult to adjust to Ajax Search API. But, it is not like Google to just take off a service and not leave a replacement, so let's wait and hope that the Google AJAX just gets better.
