Keeping the tradition of New Year updates alive, the 2010 Google PR update is officially here. Matt Cutts has confirmed the same on Twitter on 31st December itself.

Yes, Google updated our toolbar PageRank values today. Consider this the confirmation.

The update was widely expected as Google has maintained a steady schedule of updates around New Year.

I noticed the update had occurred on 30 Dec – the number of back-links reported in Webmaster Tools for my web site had gone up considerably (not sure if the two are related?). However, when I checked my PR had gone up.

I blogged about it on 31Dec.

Not too many surprises surrounding PR updates this time round – do we even need to pay attention when these updates are announced any more?

My PR didn't increase at all, but traffic is increasing.

Yes, we were updated also to our surprise better, must have optimized site properly, the best you can hope for is to get your marketing skills in order, with search, social, mobile, rss, video, content is king if your anchor text keywords are in place.

One of my blogs got a small PR increase from this update, and I noticed some other sites that didn't have any PR now have some. Thanks for confirming the update.

I was not promoting my sites at this recession and the PR went down to 2. Very bad. As google update the PR, I'll try again now and hope to touch PR 4 in a couple of months.

I prefer to care for my SERP, not for PR – it's not as popular as it was before!

I haven't got a pr increase this time, it remained the same. But I have started to buildup backlinks for the next pr update. Any news on when it might happen? some ppl are saying it is either march or april.
