eMarketer has come up with new statistics and predictions for the popular social network Facebook. The social network although has millions of users spread in every part of the world but India, Brazil, Russia, Middle East, and Africa have the highest number of Facebook users. eMarketer has published an estimated usage statistic of Facebook on the basis of region and country, for the coming years.
The social networking site acquired the badge of 1 billion active users in December 2012 and is expecting a strong growth in the user base in Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The eMarketer statistics also revealed that the number of Facebook users will rise to 1.26 billion by next year.
It is expected that there will be an increase and decrease in the use of Facebook in different countries. While Asia-Pacific region might experience a growth of 34.4% in the number of Facebook users, only 3.6% rise in numbers is expected in North America. There will be 29.5%, 31.8%, and 29.3% more Facebook users in Latin America, Middle East and Africa & Central and Eastern Europe respectively.
Recently, Facebook has started targeting business development efforts in areas like Brazil, where the number of users are expected to rise to 103.9 million in 2017 from 69 million this year.
eMarketer estimates that by 2017 around 616 million Internet users in the Asia-Pacific will be using Facebook, at least once in a month and half of the number would be coming from India.
