In a thread at DigitalPoint Forums, there are reports of signs of Google planning to shorten their snippet text limit from about 150 characters to 95 characters.

Google's snippets is the portion of text displayed in a Google page that shows just the part of the web page that have search terms you have used in them. Earlier, search engines always showed the same sentences from the beginning of the web page, no matter what words you used for searching. Snippet typically pulls from the meta description tag or from content on the page that matches with text found under the title of of that page in the Google.com search results.

There are three different people in the thread who are supporting this finding, but as nothing positive can be proved so far, there is no confirmation about this change.
