LinkedIn has finally introduced the photo sharing feature on mobile devices, a year after getting into the business of photo sharing on desktop. The professional social networking site confirmed in a blog post that mobile users can now use the share box on the top right corner of the home page to upload images in their status updates.

LinkedIn Introduces Photo Sharing Feature on Android, iOS and Mobile Web

According to the post, those who share photos within their network increase the engagement rate of their status updates by five times. To help you maintain the professional approach in your photos, the company has offered a few suggestions on what kind of photos you can share on LinkedIn:

  • Conferences, Networking and Professional Development Events: LinkedIn says that by taking pictures at conferences, you can show your seriousness about career development. You can add the quotes of the speaker in the updates, thus helping those who were unable to attend the event, get a glimpse of it.
  • View from Your Desk: These typically describe a day in your life at the workplace. You can capture a view from your desk, a group photo of your team during work or a new product you are planning to decorate on your shelves.
  • Show off Your Talents: If you are an architect, upload the new model you are working on. If you are a beautician, you can show the latest makeovers you did. Business owners can picture any new product or service they are planning to launch.
  • Professional Selfie: LinkedIn reveals that a profile photo increases the chances of a profile to be viewed by 11 times. Instead of clicking a typical headshot, members should consider a photo taken during a presentation or in the midst of their work.

Although it is surprising what took LinkedIn so long to embrace such a basic feature, its better late than never. As of now, the photos are only visible as part of your status updates and there are no separate albums. LinkedIn has already launched the new feature on iPhone and will soon be rolling it out to android and the mobile web.
