There have been some pretty big updates that have come from PubCon. The was the news of Webmaster World Forums being bought by Internet Marketing Ninja, and then the biggest one yet- the introduction of Google’s Disavow Links Tool. And now there is another big announcement made by head of Google’s webspam team- Matt Cutts at PubCon- about the search engine now reporting 100% of manual actions. This means, Google will now let you know if your website was reviewed by a human and then penalized in search results. Google’s new ‘100%’ reporting mode was revealed by Matt Cutts at PubCon- as reported by Search Engine Land.
At the conference, Matt Cutts said, “We’ve actually started to send messages for pretty much every manual action that we do that will directly impact the ranking of your site. If there’s some manual action taken by the manual web spam team that means your web site is going to rank directly lower in the search results, we’re telling webmasters about pretty much about all of those situations.”
Cutts further added that apart from any highly rare case which goes unreported, the rest making up “practically 100%” of manual actions, are reported to webmasters. Earlier Matt had given the figure of 99% at SMX West and now has reached nearly 100%.
Manual actions are penalties issued by people at Google manually checking the site and finding it flouting Google’s quality standards- and breaching its code of conduct. Webmasters can now know if manual actions have been taken against their site after any sort of complaint made against them. They can make an appeal or clean up their site to reach the quality standards required by Google. On the other hand, algorithmic changes like the Panda or the Penguin or the EMD updates are rolled out and change the way the sites are ranked in search. The algorithmic tweak is designed to come down on certain bad practices and that is why the sites are hit overall.Nearly All Manual Actions Now Reported by Google!,
