When Google rolled out the Panda 4.0 update last week, there were several speculations regarding the nature of the update. But now things are clearer after the final tip-off came directly from the horse’s mouth. Matt Cutts, Google’s head of Search Spam confirmed in a tweet, the new Panda update is softer and gentler for some sites but it does lay the groundwork to future changes in this direction.

In response to a question posted on Twitter by Marie Haynes, Matt tweeted:

“Think of it like P4 is a new architecture. Brings in some of the softer side, but also lays groundwork for future iteration.”

Panda 4.0 is a big update to the algorithm was already obvious and Cutts’s tweet comes as a confirmation to the same. The update will impact 7.5% of English queries alone was enough to keep the point, but it is always good to hear it from Cutts himself.
